David Christoffel allowed me to discover the potential of the radio medium. He is also one of the very first french composer to understand the immense possibilities offered by the Internet. I have always followed (and from time to time even had the chance to participate) with the greatest interest in his creations. We also have many, many interesting discussions on this and other topics.
We also share a passion for Erik Satie. And it was during an exchange on the enigmatic Vexations of Satie that the idea of Échecs Opératiques was born: David wanted to push the experience a notch above, to create a labyrinth on these Vexations!
The rest was easy: David quickly got to work and in 2018 we created this work in the magnificent Théâtre des Arts de l'Opéra de Rouen.
Échecs Opératiques was successful. Despite its strangeness and its length, the public remained numerous and attentive throughout the work.
I am happy to allow you to discover David Christoffel's.Échecs Opératiques. This sentence is not a simple phrase of politeness: I only discovered the existence of this complete recording in the Spring of 2022 when I presented David with the first fruits and the philosophy of my newly created label.
I wish you a beautiful musical journey.

David Christoffel m'a permis de découvrir le potentiel du média radiophonique. Il est aussi un des tout premier compositeur français à appréhender les immenses possibilités qu'offrent internet. J'ai toujours suivi (et de temps en temps j'ai même eu la chance de participer) avec le plus grand intérêt pour ses créations. Nous avons aussi de très nombreuses et intéressantes discussions sur ce sujet et d'autres.
Nous partageons aussi une passion pour Erik Satie. Et c'est lors d'un échange sur les énigmatiques Vexations de Satie qu'est née l'idée des Échecs Opératiques : David souhaitait pousser l’expérience un cran au-dessus , créer un labyrinthe sur ces Vexations !
La suite s'est faite facilement : David s'est rapidement mis au travail et en 2018 nous avons créé cette œuvre dans le magnifique Théâtre des Arts de l'Opéra de Rouen.

Les Échecs Opératiques ont eu du succès. Malgré son étrangeté et sa longueur, le public est resté nombreux et attentif tout le long de l'œuvre.
